Every Friday, fifth graders arrive in the library with a book they have chosen for a younger reading partner. Some pairs read aloud together; others pause to look closely at an illustration or predict what will happen next.
The weekly book-buddy program pairs kindergarten classes with older students for a twenty-minute visit. Librarian Elena Torres helps the readers choose books with a clear story, lively pictures, and room for conversation.
Families can join Books & Breakfast on October 16 from 7:30 to 7:55 a.m. in the library. Bring a favorite book or choose one from the shelves. Children will head to class with their teachers when the morning bell rings.
